I used some left-over alder for this project.
Easy to turn, cause it's so soft wood.
I started to make 14" snare, but when fitting the staves, diameter diminished to 13".
It took many moments to think working methods & measuring. The next project will be much easier.


The sound is great, very different to any other I've tried before.
There's no vent holes, so it's very crisp, penetrating & sensitive, but it's deep enough to give some darker tones.
The special bearing edge takes away all un-wanted rings. This also makes tuning so much easier.
The shell thickness is 20-26mm, so it gives a lot of power, which suprprized me at first. This small drum kicks ass...
